So by the time The Stan Freberg Show began to air in 1957, Benny had been off of radio (except for reruns) for two years, and that newfangled entertainment box with the 13-inch black-and-white screen had already displaced radio as Americas primary source of at-home entertainment. And although dozens of programs dramatic and comedic were popular, you can link radios season of dominance directly to The Jack Benny Program, which ran from 1932 to 1955 before switching to television.
